Your Journey to IVAC
It takes approximately an hour from airport to pass through Bangalore City (depending on traffic) and reach the Bangalore-Mysore Highway. The scenic journey takes you through coconut, mango groves, and rice and sugarcane fields. You will pass through several small townships before you reach IVAC. 80% of Indian population live in villages and are small farmers. Because of this, you will encounter farmers transporting their produce in slow moving vehicles such as bullock carts and tractors. Many of our guests have expressed their delight in witnessing the harmonious flow of simplicity and the diversity of the Indian culture as seen on the road. Bangalore. Bangalore is famous for yoga centers such as the Vivekananda Kendra and Prashanti

State of Karnataka Karnataka is a state with a rich history and culture. It was ruled by 23 kings over several centuries. It is rich in natural resources and forests. Thousands of species of medicinal plants are grown in Karnataka and it is a house for several Ayurvedic drug-manufacturing companies. Mysore Palace The Mysore Palace also known as the Amba Vilas Palace is still the residence of the Wodeyars. It is one of the largest of its kind in India. It was designed by Henry Irwin and built in 1897. This Indo-Saracenic building has, among other things, a carved silver door, a solid gold throne, a gallery of exquisite paintings, carved mahogany ceilings and a carved, columned Durbar Hall. On Sunday nights and on some holidays, 97000 light bulbs spectacularly illuminate the Palace between 7 and 8 pm. Sri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery This art gallery was established in 1875 and has a rare collection of some beautiful paintings from the same era. The gallery is located in Jaganmohan Palace and exhibits paintings by Raja Ravi Varma, Svetoslav Roerich and traditional paintings from Mysore. The gallery also houses exquisitely carved statues in sandalwood, ivory and stone. Chamundi Hill The Chamundi hill is to the southwest of the town. Half way up the hill is the giant Nandi bull 94.8-meter monolith carved in 1659. On top of the hill is the 2000-year-old Chamundeshwari Temple, dedicated to the patron goddess of the royal palace. Close to the temple stands the gigantic statue of the demon Mahisasura. The temple is famous for its seven-storied, 40 meter high gopuram. The view of the city from atop the hill, particularly when the Mysore Palace is illuminated is definitely worth a view. The temple atop the hill can also be accessed by foot for those who are so inclined. There are one thousand steps and the best time to climb would be early in the morning or evening (in time for sunrise or sunset). St. Philomena’s Church It is one of the oldest churches in Mysore. It is built in the Gothic style and is counted among the largest in India. Stained glass windows and lofty towers give this cathedral an imposing look. The Mysore Zoo This zoo was set up under royal patronage and houses some rare and exotic birds and animals. Situated amidst lush green surroundings the zoo has acquired fame for breeding rare animals in captivity. Brindavan Gardens The world-renowned Brindavan Gardens are on the terrace of the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam, built across the river
Cauvery. It is a meticulously planned garden and the musical fountain presents a spectacular harmony of water, colors and music. |

One Day Excursions from MysoreBelur Once the capital of the Hoysala kings, Belur is noted for its superb temple, a perfect example of the Hoysala style of temple architecture. Squat temples, built on high platforms, they were decorated with horizontal bands of exuberant sculpture - an endless variety of animals, birds, gods, goddesses, heavenly beings, all perfectly sculpted with a wealth of intricate details Halebid Not far from Belur is Halebid (16 kms), another capital of the Hoysala kings. Known as Dwarasamudhra, it was founded in the 11th century. Attacked by the armies of the Delhi Sultanate in the 14th century, the city was abandoned and came to be known as Halebid or the old capital. Its beautiful temples remain as evidence of the artistic genius of the Hoysala sculptors and the aesthetic inclinations of their kings. Sravanabelagola At Sravanabelagola is the oldest and most important Jain shrine in the country. It is said that the great Mauryan king, Chandragupta, came in the 3rd century BC, When he renounced the world. Up on the Hill at Sravanabelagola is a Statue of the Jain saint Gometswara -17 m high. The largest Madikere District Headquarters of Kodagu popularly known as the Scotland of India, Madikere with its green hills, its winding roads and its coffee estates, is the perfect getaway for a peaceful holiday.
