Ayurvedic Obesity Management
Obesity
Ayurvedic support for excess body fat, metabolic balance, detoxification, realistic weight reduction, body rhythm correction, and long-term weight maintenance.
Definition
Obesity is a condition in which a person has excess body fat. A person who is 20 percent or more above ideal body weight, or has a Body Mass Index of 30 or above, is generally considered obese. Obesity increases the risk of disease, disability, and mortality.
Associated Risks
Obesity is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, asthma, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. These complications make guided weight management important.
Ayurvedic Approach
Ayurveda treats obesity through a personalized approach after careful analysis of the person’s body constitution, mind constitution, age, level of obesity, associated complaints, metabolism, lifestyle, and overall condition.
IVAC View
