Obesity

Ayurvedic support for excess body fat, metabolic balance, detoxification, realistic weight reduction, body rhythm correction, and long-term weight maintenance.

Definition

Obesity is a condition in which a person has excess body fat. A person who is 20 percent or more above ideal body weight, or has a Body Mass Index of 30 or above, is generally considered obese. Obesity increases the risk of disease, disability, and mortality.

Associated Risks

Obesity is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, asthma, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. These complications make guided weight management important.

Ayurvedic Approach

Ayurveda treats obesity through a personalized approach after careful analysis of the person’s body constitution, mind constitution, age, level of obesity, associated complaints, metabolism, lifestyle, and overall condition.

IVAC View

At IVAC, weight reduction is not only about losing kilos. The focus is on understanding the body type, restoring natural health, tuning the body with its rhythms, and planning therapies so weight loss happens without wrinkles or sagging of skin.

The Natural Weight Balance Pathway

Ayurvedic Line of Treatment

The IVAC approach to obesity management focuses on eliminating Ama, supporting detoxification, improving metabolism, recommending suitable diet and lifestyle routines, and helping the person maintain the reduced weight in a healthy way.

1

Ama Elimination

The treatment begins with the elimination of Ama, or toxins, through a physician-guided Panchakarma detoxification program based on the person’s health condition.

2

Weight Loss Massages

Specific weight loss therapies such as Udwartana and Dhaanyamladhara may be included to support fat reduction, circulation, tissue stimulation, and metabolic activation.

3

Dietary Recommendations

Diet advice is planned according to body type, digestive strength, age, weight goal, associated complaints, and realistic weight reduction needs.

4

Lifestyle Regimen

Lifestyle recommendations are customized for the individual’s constitution, nature of work, daily routine, geography, sleep pattern, activity level, and long-term maintenance needs.

5

Yoga & Pranayama

Yoga and Pranayama are included to improve body awareness, energy balance, breathing capacity, discipline, flexibility, and sustainable lifestyle correction.

6

Treatment Duration Planning

The duration depends on the level of obesity, age, number of kilos to be reduced, associated health complaints, and overall condition. It may vary from 15 days to 1 month.

7

Maintenance & Management

Since maintenance is critical after weight reduction, IVAC focuses on continued dietary discipline, lifestyle correction, rhythm building, and weight management planning.
