The Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre (IVAC) is a 25-year-old residential Ayurveda retreat in Mysuru, India, founded and chaired by Dr. Talavane Krishna — a physician trained in modern medicine and anaesthesiology before becoming one of the global custodians of authentic Ayurveda.

IVAC is known for three things: classical Panchakarma performed correctly, clinical care led by qualified doctors, and a calm, residential experience that has earned the trust of guests from more than 50 countries.

Personalised Healing Process

Healing begins with understanding the individual.

At IVAC, treatment does not begin with a standard package. It begins with a complete understanding of the person, their history, imbalance, condition, and healing goals.

At Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre, healing begins with comprehensive history taking and a thorough assessment based on the principles of Ayurveda. Relevant investigations and specialist consultations are incorporated whenever required to gain a complete picture of health. Based on these findings, every guest receives a personalised treatment plan that integrates modern medical insights with the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda.

Safe, coordinated care

In the management of certain conditions, conventional medications are continued alongside Ayurveda treatments when needed, ensuring safe, coordinated care and optimal outcomes.

Our Clinical Framework

How is IVAC’s approach to Ayurveda different?

IVAC practices integrative Ayurveda — classical Ayurvedic protocols delivered with the structure, hygiene, and clinical oversight of modern medicine.

Every guest is assessed by qualified doctors before therapies begin, and progress is monitored throughout the stay. The approach respects classical Ayurvedic wisdom while maintaining the discipline, hygiene, and observation expected in a serious clinical environment.

01

Classical Knowledge

Therapies are drawn from authentic Ayurvedic texts such as Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya, and are administered in their traditional form.

Ancient Foundations
Core Excellence
02

Clinical Rigour

Doctors lead every consultation and protocol. Modern diagnostics, when relevant, support Ayurvedic assessment. Outcomes are observed, not promised.

Modern Accountability
03

Personalised Programs

No two guests receive the same protocol. Each program is built around the individual’s prakriti (constitutional makeup), vikriti (imbalance), health condition, and wellness goals.

Is the Panchakarma at IVAC authentic?

Yes. IVAC follows the classical five-fold Panchakarma — Vamana, Virechana, Basti, Nasya, and Raktamokshana — performed under physician supervision, with full pre-procedure and post-procedure protocols.

Most wellness centres offer “Panchakarma” as a marketing label for oil massages and steam. At IVAC, Panchakarma remains what the classical texts describe: a highly structured, medically monitored detoxification and rejuvenation process. This includes medical assessment, controlled preparation, the therapeutic procedures themselves, and a carefully managed recovery phase.

Sacred Geography

Why is IVAC located in Mysuru?

Mysuru is one of South India’s oldest centres of Ayurveda, yoga, and traditional medicine. IVAC is set on a quiet estate on the city’s outskirts — close enough to access Mysuru’s cultural and medical heritage, far enough to offer the silence and clean air that authentic healing requires.

The city has long been associated with classical learning, royal patronage of traditional sciences, and a continuous lineage of Ayurvedic and yoga practice. For an international guest, Mysuru offers what most wellness destinations cannot: a place where Ayurveda is not a recent import but a living, local tradition. IVAC’s location was chosen with this in mind.

The Hands Behind Healing

How are IVAC’s therapists trained?

IVAC’s therapists are trained in-house under standards set by Dr. Krishna and the senior medical team. Many have been with IVAC for over a decade.

The quality of an Ayurvedic therapy depends almost entirely on the hands delivering it. IVAC treats therapist training as a clinical discipline — covering anatomy, oil temperature, pressure, marma points, and post-therapy care. The centre also runs dedicated therapist training programs that have produced practitioners now working at Ayurvedic institutions globally.
